Three jobs are packed into one app here, and the German name spells them out: Tanken, Laden, Route - fuelling, charging, routing. The fuel side is why most people install it. ADAC gathers price data for filling stations across Germany, so you can see what diesel or E10 costs at the four stations within a couple of kilometres before committing to one, and across a full tank the gap is not trivial.
Charging works the same way for electric drivers, listing points with connector types and availability, while route planning ties the two together so a longer trip can be laid out around wherever you will need to stop. Club members get the extra piece: a breakdown request that passes location and vehicle details straight through, rather than making you describe a motorway junction over a bad phone line on the hard shoulder.
The 3.57 rating is the sober part. Reviewers point at prices that lag reality at individual stations, a redesign that moved familiar functions around, and routing that is serviceable without matching a dedicated navigation app. It is also, unavoidably, a German product for German roads: the interface is in German and the data thins out at the border.
