There is no science here, and the developer is not really pretending otherwise — this sits in the Entertainment category alongside soundboards and party apps, and it deserves to be judged as one.
On that basis it works. Recording takes a single tap, the generated lines are short and often genuinely funny, and clips are easy to fire into a group chat. Animal sound effects you can play back at the dog are the same joke from the other direction.
The reception has been rough. A 2.78 average on Google Play is low by any standard, and the store lists it as a paid title, not a free download — which is where most of the frustration seems to originate. People expect a throwaway gag app and meet a price tag.
