Editor's Review

Parking in a European city centre is rarely the pleasant part of the trip. APCOA FLOW is the operator's attempt to remove most of the friction: you register once, add a vehicle and a payment method, and the barrier recognises your number plate on arrival. No ticket to lose, no machine to queue at before you drive out.

The map is the core of the app. It shows APCOA sites near you or near a destination you type in, with opening hours and the tariff for that location, so you can choose between two car parks before setting off rather than after you have already committed to a street. In cities where APCOA handles on-street or mobile parking, sessions can also be started and stopped from the phone so you pay only for the minutes used.

The obvious limit is coverage. APCOA is a large operator in Germany, Austria, the Nordics, the UK and a handful of other markets, but it is still one operator among many. Drive to a car park run by somebody else and this app does nothing for you, which is why most drivers keep a second parking app installed alongside it. Barrier-free entry also depends on the individual site having plate recognition fitted; older locations still hand you a ticket, and the app then works as a payment method rather than as a key.

Worth having if your commute, airport run or weekly shop lands you in APCOA sites often enough to notice.

Features

  • Map of APCOA car parks with opening hours and tariffs

  • Barrier-free entry and exit at sites fitted with plate recognition

  • Automatic payment from a stored card or direct debit

  • Start and stop on-street sessions in cities where APCOA supports them

  • Several vehicles registered to one account

  • Digital receipts and a parking history for expense claims

Pros

  • Removes the ticket machine entirely at equipped car parks

  • Tariffs are visible before you drive in, not after

  • Receipt history helps anyone claiming parking back on expenses

Cons

  • Only useful at APCOA locations, so a second parking app is usually still needed

  • Plate recognition is not installed at every site in the network

  • Nothing works until you register and store a payment method

Questions people ask

Do I need an account to use APCOA FLOW?

Yes. The app links your number plate to a payment method, so registration and a stored card or direct debit are required before your first barrier-free entry.

Does it work at any car park?

No. It covers car parks operated by APCOA and, in some cities, on-street parking that APCOA manages. Sites belonging to other operators are not included.

Is the app itself free?

Google Play lists the download as free. What you pay is the normal parking tariff for the site you used, charged through the app instead of at a machine.
