Editor's Review

Enilive is eni's app for drivers who use its own service stations. The core of it is a map: find the nearest site, see which fuels it stocks, check the posted prices and, where the station supports it, pay from the phone without getting out of the car. Payment runs against a card registered once, and the receipt lands in the app rather than on a slip of paper that ends up in the door pocket.

Around that sits the loyalty side. Refuelling earns points, points come off later purchases or convert into vouchers, and the card lives on the phone instead of in the glovebox. Electric drivers get charging points on the same map, with sessions started and paid for through the same account, so there is one login rather than three.

Two caveats matter before installing. The first is geography: this is built around eni's network, which is dense in Italy and thin or absent elsewhere, so its usefulness drops sharply once you leave that footprint. The second is that almost nothing works anonymously. You register, verify and add a payment method before the interesting parts unlock, which is a lot of setup for an app you may only open once a fortnight. The 4.2 rating suggests most of that lands well enough, but a station-specific app is only ever as good as the stations near you.

Features

  • Map of eni service stations showing fuels stocked and posted prices

  • Payment from inside the car at stations that support it

  • Digital loyalty card that collects points on each refuel

  • Electric vehicle charging points listed and paid for through the same account

  • Digital receipts stored in the app after every purchase

Pros

  • Paying from the car saves a walk to the kiosk in bad weather or a queue

  • Loyalty card, payment method and receipts all live behind one login

  • Free to install, with no charge for the app itself

Cons

  • Value depends on eni stations being common where you drive, which mostly means Italy

  • Registration and a stored payment method are required before the main functions work

  • In-car payment is limited to participating stations rather than the whole network

Questions people ask

Do I need an account to use the app?

Yes, for anything beyond browsing the station map. Paying for fuel, collecting points and starting a charging session all require a registered account with a verified payment method attached.

Is the app useful outside Italy?

It is built around eni's own network, which is concentrated in Italy. Where eni does not operate stations there is very little for the map to show, so the app has limited use in those countries.
