Rather than one-off intercity journeys, it matches people making the same short trip at roughly the same time each weekday, typically between a home town and a workplace or a transport hub.
How it works: you set your usual route and departure times, and the app looks for recurring matches instead of a single booking. Drivers offer the seats they have on a journey they were making anyway and receive a contribution towards fuel; passengers pay a fare that generally lands well below the cost of running a second car. Profiles, ratings and messaging cover the basic trust problem, and payment goes through the app rather than cash changing hands in the car.
The weak point: a commuting network only functions where enough people already use it. In dense corridors around larger cities matches appear quickly, but away from them the app can return nothing for days, which is the likeliest reason its rating sits at 3.86. Coverage concentrates in particular European markets, so check your own route before building a commuting plan around it.
