Cracker Barrel's app does three jobs, and it does them for people who already eat at the chain. You add your name to the waitlist before arriving, order food for pickup or delivery, and watch the balance that the restaurant's loyalty programme builds up.
The waitlist is the feature that changes a visit. Instead of standing on the porch, you join the queue from the car or from the road and watch the estimated time move. Ordering covers the full menu including the breakfast dishes the chain is known for, and the retail goods sold at the front of each location can be browsed too.
A 4.63 average across a million installs is high for a restaurant app, which usually means the ordering flow survives a busy Sunday. One limit is unavoidable: the chain trades in the United States, so nobody elsewhere has any use for the app, and it offers nothing to someone with no plans to visit a location.
