Dinner is the obvious use, but Deliveroo has widened well past restaurants: grocery shops, convenience stores and pharmacies now appear in many of the cities it serves, carried by the same riders and shown on the same tracking map.
The flow is familiar. Enter an address, browse what is genuinely delivering to it at that moment, build a basket, pay in the app and follow the rider until the doorbell goes. Scheduling lets you claim a slot in advance, group ordering splits one basket between several people, and a subscription tier drops delivery fees on qualifying orders for a monthly charge.
A 4.6 rating over 10M+ installs is strong for a service where so much of the experience happens outside the software. That is also the honest caveat: an app can show a live map, but it cannot make a kitchen faster or conjure a rider on a wet Friday night. Costs mount as well. Delivery fee, service fee and the small-order surcharge together add a noticeable margin, and menu prices in the app often sit above what the same restaurant charges at its own counter. Coverage is the other boundary, because outside dense urban areas the list of available shops thins out quickly.
