Editor's Review

A national health record, held in one place:

e-Nabız is operated by Turkey's Ministry of Health and gathers what the public and contracted private health system record about a person: laboratory results, imaging and radiology reports, prescriptions, diagnoses, hospital visits, vaccinations and allergy notes. At 50M+ installs it is close to standard equipment for anyone living in the country.

What it does for you:

Results often appear here before a printout is handed over, which shortens the wait between giving blood and knowing the number. Appointments in the state system can be booked and reviewed, and the record can be opened to a named doctor for a limited window, so a specialist reads the same history without the patient carrying a folder of paper. Children and dependants can be linked to one account, and prescriptions can be checked before a trip to the pharmacy counter.

The 3.71 problem:

For software almost everyone in the country has installed, that average is low, and the causes are familiar in government systems. Sign-in leans on national identity credentials and the e-Devlet gateway, so any queue or outage on that side becomes a locked door here. Records flow in from many separate institutions, which produces gaps and delays that are hard to chase from inside the app. The interface is dense, redesigns keep moving things, and older handsets struggle with it.

Who it suits:

Residents of Turkey holding a national identity number. Without those credentials there is nothing to sign into, and the record is in Turkish throughout, which matters a great deal when you are reading your own results.

Features

  • Laboratory results collected from state and contracted providers

  • Imaging and radiology reports attached to the same record

  • Prescription history viewable before going to a pharmacy

  • Appointment booking and review inside the state health system

  • Time-limited record sharing with a specific doctor

  • Vaccination history and recorded allergies

  • Dependants and children linked to a single account

  • Sign-in through national identity credentials and the e-Devlet gateway

Pros

  • Results usually land here before any paper copy reaches you

  • One record instead of documents scattered across several hospitals

  • Sharing with a specialist removes the folder of printouts

  • Free and official, with no subscription attached to a health record

Cons

  • A 3.71 average is weak for software this widely installed

  • Login depends on national identity systems, so their outages become yours

  • Records arriving from many institutions leave gaps that are hard to correct

  • Turkish-only, and unusable without a Turkish identity number

Questions people ask

What do I need to sign in?

A Turkish national identity number and credentials from the state identity systems, including the e-Devlet gateway. There is no route in for someone without them.

Who can see my records?

You control access. Records can be opened to a named doctor for a limited period, and that permission can be withdrawn again from inside the app.

Why is a test or visit missing?

Data arrives from many separate hospitals and laboratories, and transfers can lag or fail. A missing entry usually has to be raised with the institution that produced it rather than fixed in the app.

Is it available in English?

The record and the interface are in Turkish. Anyone reading their own results should expect medical terminology in that language throughout.
