What to be careful about. Obscurity is not encryption, and confusing the two is where people get hurt. Anyone who knows this category recognises a vault calculator on sight, and the files are still sitting on the device. More importantly, uninstalling the app, clearing its data or restoring the phone can take the hidden content with it — the recovery pleas in the reviews are almost all variations on that single mistake. Are my files encrypted?
Treat the vault as concealment rather than encryption. It pulls files out of the ordinary gallery and puts a PIN in front of them, which stops casual browsing but is not equivalent to a properly encrypted container.
What happens to hidden files if I uninstall the app?
