Android's print framework lets any app hand a document to a printer, but only when a matching print service is installed. Canon's plugin is that missing piece: install it once and Canon network printers appear in the standard Android print dialogue from Chrome, Gmail, Drive or anything else offering a print option.
It is deliberately small. There is barely an interface, since the plugin discovers printers on the same Wi-Fi network and exposes paper size, copies, colour and duplex inside the system print sheet rather than in a screen of its own. Direct connection to a printer's own wireless is supported for setups without a router.
A 3.19 rating is the honest headline here. Most complaints concern discovery: printers the plugin cannot see across subnets or guest networks, models supported unevenly, and jobs that fail without a clear reason. When it works it is invisible and costs nothing, which is the point; when it does not, the fallback is Canon's larger PRINT app, which also handles scanning and ink levels.
