Editor's Review

If you already hold a demat account with Angel One, this app is where that account lives: order placement, holdings, funds, research and the paperwork Indian broking involves. If you do not hold one, it is a sign-up funnel first and a trading terminal second, and the distinction is worth understanding before installing.

The trading side covers equity delivery and intraday, futures and options, commodities and currency, with charts, watchlists and the order types an active trader expects. Beside it sits the investing side: mutual funds with SIP setup, IPO applications submitted through UPI, and portfolio views that pull the two together. Angel One has pushed hard on research, so a good deal of screen space goes to model portfolios, stock ideas and market commentary, which is useful or noisy depending on how much you want to be told what to buy.

Opening an account is a full KYC process: PAN, Aadhaar-linked verification, bank details, a signature and video verification. It happens in the app, but it is not instant, and the account is available to Indian residents. Anyone elsewhere can install this and get nowhere.

The 4.42 rating across 100M+ installs is respectable for a category whose users are unforgiving, though the recurring complaints in broking software are worth expecting: slowdowns and login queues at the open on volatile days, and a charge structure easy to underestimate until the contract note lands. Brokerage, exchange fees, GST and statutory levies all apply, none of them the app's doing, but together they decide whether frequent small trades make sense. Read the recommendation feeds as marketing-adjacent rather than advice and this remains a dense, capable piece of financial software.

Questions people ask

Can I use this from outside India?

Not in any practical sense. Accounts require Indian KYC, an Indian bank account and, for most segments, Indian residency. NRI accounts exist but follow a different and more restricted process.

Do I need an account before anything works?

Market data and the onboarding flow are open without one, but placing orders, holding funds or applying for an IPO all require a completed demat and trading account.

Is trading free because the app is free?

No. The download costs nothing, but brokerage, exchange transaction charges, stamp duty, GST and regulator levies apply to trades. Check the broker's current tariff schedule rather than assuming.
